Interview with Anita Rosenberg Jensen, team leader, NOV, and Søren K. Thustrup, communications specialist, NOV
NOV uses dnp Visiosign’s information screens to reach the employees on the floor. NOV is a leader in high-tech flexible pipes for the oil industry. They use information screens to optimize the safety of employees in production environments in several countries.
Information for employees on the floor
The production employees rarely sit in front of a computer and do not have regular contact with the administrative staff. Internal communication is therefore a challenge.
“You can’t send something out on an e-mail to the employees in a production company, it simply doesn’t work – information screens are the only way to be 100% sure that you can get information to the people on the floor.”
Søren K. Thustrup, communications specialist, NOV
Security on information screens
Safety is essential in manufacturing companies. On the 14 screens, located in NOV’s production area in Kalundborg, small safety videos are shown. dnp Visiosign has over the past 20 years specialized in internal communication solutions for manufacturing companies. When information screens are hung in many places in the building, safety messages are seen by everyone and can be updated in a few minutes. These customized solutions provide great customer satisfaction.
“The screen is perfectly sharp, has a good visual design and a good resolution, so you can see it from a long distance, which is important when it hangs in production, where you can’t get close.”

Pictures and smiles capture attention
Although NOV takes employee safety 100% seriously, a smile on the screen is the best way to reach employees. A loving and humorous tone on the screens helps create good relationships, which is extremely important, says Anita. In addition, some of the employees do not have Danish as their first language and may not be that well read. If text is supplemented with images, icons, aminations and videos, it will be easier for all employees to follow along.
“We use humour, smileys and images on the screens to create good relationships and awareness of important messages. If we only use text, not many people will see it.”
Anita Rosenberg, team leader, NOV
Valuable cooperation
NOV has just gone through a major re-design process of their information screens and was very pleased with the process. dnp Visiosign held a workshop to review and coordinate NOV’s wishes and returned with a tailor-made solution.
“I am completely convinced that if we have some new needs and present it to dnp Visiosign, they can execute on it.”
